Still Waiting!

Well it has been awhile and I still haven't heard from the selection committee.  But I realized that the  sign up session has not ended yet so they won't be telling anyone anything until they have all the applications.  duh!  So as usual I have been agonizing for nothing.  Nuttin like borrowing trouble from tomorrow!!  LOL

I have been trying to make up some inventory, but it's hard to decide  what will sell well next year!  Things that are very popular now, might be passe by then.   So I am trying to learn some new, but tried and true, patterns that should still be liked.

Add to that the fact that we are now starting our cold wet time of the year and my body is reacting to it, and not in a nice way.  The medication my doctor is giving me for the Fibro works very well most of the time, but not when it is cold and damp like it is now. Can't sit very long or the feet start looking like mini-pillows, can't put them up on a footstool or the hips and low back start in.  LOL   Lordy, I hate getting old.  Feels like all we do is complain about one thing or another!!

Had a great day yesterday!  Went to my brother's house and had a mini-family get together.  The weather was beautiful, lots of sun and not too bad winds, so we got to be outside for a while.   My nephew was down from Canada with his wife and little girl.  The other nephew and niece were there with their families, even a new baby!  Most of my crew was there, two of the boys had to work, but the other two and my daughter were there.  So I got to see some of my grandchildren. They grow so fast, if you don't see them for a couple of months, they look so different!!  And just full of all the things they can do now.  My 2 year old grandson came out of the house just beaming so my daughter asked him what he had been up to.  He said, " I went pottie!!!"   His mama was like, you did?  and he just grinned.   LOL  she turned him around to check his backside and was amazed that he had cleaned himself, then she checked his hands!!    Of course by then, everyone is dying laughing, and although he doesn't know why;  he just knows that he is the cause of it so he is laughing too.  My daughter turns and with her eyes big as a saucer, said, "And he even washed his hands"!!  Well everybody just busted out then.  The look on her face was priceless.

Here are a couple of the bigger things I have done this past month, love this "raised embroidery" it's fun to do and simple enough you can almost do it while watching tv.  And the other is another embroidered piece around a stone piece I got from Busy Beads on Facebook.  So long until next time.

Waiting is so hard!

I finally got my application, pictures and everything filled out, packaged, and mailed. Now comes the really hard part, although trying to get decent photos taken with my poor little camera was hard too, I hope they are good enough for the committee. Waiting to hear when you have no idea how long it will take them, or if you even got your application in on time is going to be nerve wracking. IF I get approved, I have to decided which styles I am going to make to take down there, then I have to find some way to buy a ton of beads to get inventory made up. I think I am going to decide on just a few signature pieces and then do them in different colors. Your stall is not very big and it would be difficult to take the whole monty like you would for a one or two day craft show or festival. Plus you have to carry all your inventory in and out every day. I don't think the vendors leave their work in the stall, would be too easily stolen. One thing did work out wonderfully though and makes me think that God is going to smile favorably on this venture. A dear friend that I met a couple of years ago at a craft fair and have kept in touch with by email and seen at other fairs, lives in the town where the festival is and has kindly agreed to have me as a house guest for the 3 weeks that I will be there for the event. It's too far away to have someone drive me every day and I still have no car. Renting a motel room was out of the question financially, the fees for the festival are high enough, plus you have to give them a percentage of your total sales. The chance to make really good money is good enough to justify the fees, but not to pay for a motel room for 3 weeks.
So, I hope and pray to be approved, and I ask for good wishes from my faithful few followers! :) Thank you all and have a wonderful weekend.

I am so excited! I'm filing an application to be considered in one of our area yearly huge Craft Festivals!! If I get accepted it will be a huge honor. Not going to say where yet, don't want to count my chickens before they're hatched, but I am really really excited about it!! In case you couldn't tell! heh heh

I've been really busy trying to get inventory made up, even though it won't be until next fall, it goes on for about 3 weeks so I need to have a lot made up. I know I swore I would never make replications of my designs, but this will be an exception to the rule. I can still make little differences in pieces, color, type of bead, etc.

Sent off a large order of beads today, ones I needed anyway so even if I don't get invited, I can still use them to make up supplies for next spring's round of shows. If I do get invited, I'll have to really send in a big order. I want new display racks, price labels, cards for earrings, and bags for sales.

So all my friends and followers out there, all 17 of you in Google land, LOL send up some prayers that this goes through for me.

Oh I almost forgot. I posted a "thingy" on the right side of the blog, it's for a contest on Baublicious. A freeform peyote competition. Think it will be great!!

Going in a New Direction!

I've imported all my entries from etsy to Zibbet and plan on closing my etsy shops whenever my fees expire. They will be available until they do. I've had pieces in there for almost 3 years with no sales, so I figure between my time and the fees I've paid in those 3 years, I'm in the hole, so to speak. Zibbet does have a premium account that you have to pay for, but it has a free account too, and free is GOOD!!! Free is very good if you're not making any sales. Hopefully that will change.
I know I probably did not do as much 'work' in promoting my shop as I should have, but I just didn't have the time to do more than I was already doing. It shouldn't be THAT hard.
I'm also checking around for some gallery type shops to see if I can exhibit my designs there. I have two belts that I got a commission for and am almost done with the second one. That will be a big deal for me, the fact that I'm finally going to make some decent money with my designs, but will also be getting exposure and free advertising with her friends in the concert rounds.
So wish me luck friends, and come by and see the new shop if you want. They have had esty sellers switching over by the droves. The name of the shop is the same as this blog. Hope to see you there.

Doing the Craft Festivals!

Have done several shows, but have not had much luck. Not sure what the problems is, but I suspect a lot of it is the economy. People just don't have the money to spend on non-necessities. And I think we are going to have to pay more attention to what KIND of shows we are going to. The last two were a carnival type festival and a huge garage sale. The carnival we lost money on, and the garage sale I made a little, but not enough. Carnivals are not a good idea if you are wanting to sell anything except food or drink items. They did great, but people come to these types of things to relax, let the kids ride the rides and eat. They didn't even hardly look at the craft booths. Although the last day of the carnival, we stopped to get gas at our little One Stop store here in town and I bought a scratcher and won $100!!!! Whoo Hooo! So not making anything on that show wasn't quite so bad! LOL A couple I met at a show in Springfield are going to try to hook me up with a shop in Eureka Springs. It's more of a gallery type setting and they thought I might do well there with my embroidered pieces. I've sent the owners of the shop a message on their FB page, but haven't heard back from them yet. There is also a gallery in Springfield that sounds promising too. Need to check with them soon too. Think I'm going to head to bed, getting late and I'm tired! Hope you had a good and safe Labor Day weekend. Later, Judy

Summer is almost over!!

And I have been a bad girl! Haven't been on either of my blogs all summer. It's been busy, done a few shows, but nothing good. Most times barely made my entry fee back. I know the economy is bad, and that most likely explains why people are buying much, but sure makes it rough on those of us who are trying to supplement our income. I have learned a few new stitches though. Made a bracelet the other day that I really love. May have to end up keeping it myself. If you happen to see my other blog on WordPress, you might notice that I used the same beginning paragraph on both! I know, LAZY!!! At least I admit it. I get up with the most ambitious plans for the day and then I get on the computer.............hours later I realize most of the day is gone and I haven't accomplished very much. I have been doing a lot of beading though. A friend who is a concert violinist in Alabama commissioned two belts from me after she was up here for our school reunion and saw my work. I am so pleased!! She wants one to be completely black and the other to be of my own design. I put a little bling on the black one by adding some Swarovski crystal bicones and rondells in the center, but the rest is just black seed beads. 38 inches worth!! Very slow going. The other one is the same size, both are only a little over an inch wide, but that almost makes it more difficult! I used Metallic Iris with its gorgeous shifting shades of purple, blue, gold, and green for the main part of the belt and in the center I hid a musical cleft in tri-cut 12/0 in emerald green. Well, have to get to work or I'll never get them done. Have a great weekend!!

Where does time go?

I cannot believe it has been almost a month since I posted last. Just seems like there is never enough time to do all the things we want to do. I've been busy working on pieces, almost finished with the Hungarian Folk art piece for the EBEG, did a couple of woven pieces for my other etsy shop, and have made several little cloth cuff bracelets with beaded US flags on them for a craft fair that is coming up this summer about a week before the Fourth. So fixing lots of Red, White, and Blue things. :) I know the last time I posted it was a beautiful warm spring day, well today it is pretty outside, sun is shining and things are blooming BUT, it is chillllllly!! My boyfriend told me it snowed big time for about 15 min where he lives this morning. Over in SE Missouri. I told him he could just keep it there!!! I sure hope it warms up for this weekend, have a craft fair in Fair Grove, it's all weekend so I would really rather it wasn't damp and chilly. The old Fibro. does not like cold damp weather. That's one reason why I am so ready for summer to get here. My boys finally got my yard mowed this past weekend and after all the drizzly days we've had, it already needs mowed again, but it's mostly dandelions. I saw on etsy that someone was SELLING dandelion seeds!! I laughed and told them that around here we sprayed them with weed killer, but then some one reminded me that some people here in the southern part of the country grew them for greens and for making dandelion wine. So, if I could just remember which shop they were in, I would apologize! It's hump day so I hope the rest of your week is fantastic, talk to you later. :)

Good afternoon! I got the Ying Yang cuff done and it is posted on Etsy. Also finished a couple of spiral necklaces in the Oglala Butterfly stitch. They are listed on my other etsy shop, "DownTheCopperLine". Spring is finally trying to stick around, it's beautiful today. Have my doors and windows open, love the fresh warm air!! My daughter and her two little ones are coming in just a little while to stay for a couple days! I am so looking forward to them being here. She lives about 2 1/2 hours away so I don't get to see them very often. I wish I could afford to have a car again, but no can do. :( I have so much yard work I need to do, but am just not up to it yet. I have been doing my exercises faithfully, well..........not every day, but I'm getting there. Able to do a lot more than when I first started. The back is giving me more problems than anything else though and I'm afraid I may end up having to have surgery. :( Enough of the bad stuff though, it's wonderful weather, tomorrow is Good Friday, and we have so many things to be grateful for. Most of all, a loving Father and Lord, who gave his life so that we might have ever lasting life and the promise of Heaven. So Happy Easter everyone, I hope you have a blessed holiday and get to spend lots of time with loved ones. :)

My Etsy Shop

New shop is doing great!! Have oodles of views, likes, follows, and fav's. Thank you everyone who visited! Now if I could just get some customers!! LOL I've not been able to get much beading done the last couple of weeks, have been doing some much needed deep cleaning. Especially in my kitchen, cleaned the fronts of all of my many cabinets, then took every thing out of the shelves and cleaned them and put down new shelf paper. Finally done, so want to get to beading the rest of this week. I have a half completed cuff in the ying/yang pattern. All black and white with 11/0 seed beads and 3mm crystal bicones. Can't wait to finish it and list it in the shop! Talk to you later, :)

Things are finally settling down and I hope I have more time to spend on my blogs. I am getting my second etsy shop set up finally, it has the same name as this blog. Only have a few things posted so far and I need to finish that today so I can officially open shop. Hope you have a good week, you miss all the snow and ice, be safe and keep beading!

I just can't seem to be able to get started on this blog! Have had so many irons in the fire this past few months, I'm like the proverbial chicken with it's head cut off. Just flopping around every where!! LOL I intended to set up a second shop on etsy and this is going to be the name, but haven't gotten it done yet either so that is the main reason I have been procrastinating. I promise I will get busy and get the shop done and finish setting up this blog. Talk to you later.
